Handmade boats have a spirit in them. The creativity and craft of putting together a boat, piece by piece using the materials of wood, fiber, glue, and paint, make them into something more.
The curves, the warm colors, the flexibility and breath coming in and out of the boat itself give it a life that a plastic one cannot attain. If you would like a boat that is indestructible, then you should buy a plastic kayak. The boats I build are strong and durable, but not indestructible. That is a good thing; I look at every plastic boat and think, “That is going to take up space in a landfill once it cracks, and it will be there a very long time.”
My boats are fast, beautiful and light-weight. If you want those qualities, I can build you one.
